I made a promise to myself at the beginning of the year, some 48-ish days ago, that I would try to keep the blogging diverse and interesting, but most of all consistent. And unfortunately, one and a half months into the personal challenge, I have already begun to wither from this reality. I am trying, though, so stay patient; I’mma fire the creativity neurons and pump out some shtuff soon. Regardless, today’s post is really quite random, just a bunch of stuff I want to write about and decided to huck it all together in this big melting pot of delightfulness.
Check?
Speaking of goals, in my first posty post of the year I kind of went over some resolutions I was to accomplish. All in all, I’d say I’m actually doing well. Job? Check. Gym? Fail. Car? Fail. Cooking? Check. Real dates with girlfriend? Check check check! Good on ya, Benster!
Valentine’s
Well I am sure you are all just dying to know what happened to me on Valentine’s Day. You will find I am kind (yay for 300 references!), and will therefore tell you what happened. Sorry there are no pictures to include, but this one is more of a ‘mental pic’ sort of deal. But basically, it was a romantic dinner under the porch with flowers, appies, a red wagon, blankets, and poems. Oh, and late night biking and stargazing along dark road. And how was it reciprocated? Gift, chocolates, Rupert, and a homemade card. Then followed next by late night crepe, long time in bed, and hang sesh.

It was so incredibly terrific.
Oscars
Moving along? I just saw the nominations for the Oscars (yes, I realize I’m tardy, thank you). As always, it seems the Academy has picked yet again the same movies to run in almost every category, as opposed to picking from a diverse pool of greatness. I’m aware that they must have a limit and a voting process, but they should still have a much more diverse range. Here are my thoughts:

The big controversy this year is that for the first time since ‘43, they are choosing more than five films for Best Picture. I say awesome; there are plenty more than just five films made in one year that deserve the title of best pic.
For me, it was really a huge tie between Inglourious Basterds and District 9. I adored them both so much. I chose District 9 as my pick because I felt it had a more penetrating impact on me, in the sense that it’s theme was (blatantly) a metaphor for segregation and apartheid, still a major world issue. Plus the visuals were fucking spectacular. In fact, I thought they were better than Avatar, personally, because Avatar seemed too… too… impossible. I was very much aware that I was watching CGI during Cameron’s epic, whereas D9 seemed more gritty and realistic.
Of course though, I think we all know Avatar is going to be crowned. One of the criteria for Best Picture is the effect the film has had upon culture, and there is absolutely nothing that even compares to Avatar-vs-Culture this past while. I mean, from the hype to protests to fan following… someone even died because it was so cool.
The rest is pretty straightforward. However I would like to add that if Christop Waltz does not win Actor In A Supporting Role, I ‘munna donkey punch a baby’s face real bad. Real bad. He was that brilliant.
Anywho, that’s all I’ve got for now. What did you guys do for Valentine’s? Thoughts on the the Oscars? Let me know through a post comment, on facebook, or tweet me!

pee dot ess dot: I made a mistake!! I’m sorry folks, it must have slipped past me. The ani. short I think will not is not, in fact, Avatar, but instead Logorama. Sorry kids.
