Maybe you’ve heard of Ork Posters. Maybe you haven’t… Ork is a poster company based in Chicago that makes the most beautiful neighbourhood maps (with the new inclusion of a Brain and a Heart too!). I absolutely adore what they make, and have tempted myself on buying them all so many times. I’m a sucker for simplicity/minimalism and typography, so of course these Ork girls would immediately draw me in.
I had a thought the other day, and it somewhat danced around the idea of “Pemberton + Ork poster = amazing.” The girls say they take city requests to create new posters in the future, but I think if Pemberton were to be added it would find itself pretty far down the list behind other prospective , especially with our little 2,500 residents.
Thus I have made my own, completely stealing the poster idea to make a beautiful one for Pemberton. I just want to say that yes, I made this particular poster here, but the full credit still goes to Jenny and Ork.
The Pemberton poster includes everything in town, so therefore the Meadows, the Plateau, Mt Currie, Birken, Divine, D’arcy… they ain’t gonna be found on here. The layout is fully accurate, however the boundaries of certain areas have been expanded slightly to make each other touch. I used Google Maps & Street View, WhistlerListings.com, and the Whistler Real Estate site for mapping and names, and for finding which areas to include.
I made 6 different posters, including “Sand” above. My personal favourite is the red one, Ketchup, just because it is so bold, but I am thinking that Snow is right there behind if not tied.
